“Whenever you had asked me here about Jharkhand, I had said that it is a difficult state,” BJP’s election-in-charge for the state said while addressing a press conference in Guwahati, news agency PTI reported. Sarma further said that it was a “tough job” for the BJP, adding that the party had done a good job under the circumstances. Earlier today, Soren was elected the leader of the INDIA bloc in the Jharkhand in a meeting held under his chairmanship. Hemant Soren won the Barhait seat in Jharkhand Assembly elections 2024, by a margin of 39,791 votes, defeating Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Gamliyel Hembrom.

As vote counting came to a close for Jharkhand’s 81 Assembly constituencies, the JMM-led alliance secured 56 seats, while the NDA trailed with 24. Among the INDIA bloc parties, the JMM won 34 seats, Congress won 16, RJD has secured victory in four seats while the CPI(ML)(L) won two seats. In the NDA, the BJP won 21 seats, while the LJP(RV), AJSU and JD(U) managed to secure one each.
